FLCL -  Episode 2, “Fire Starter”
(We see a fire burning.)
Mamimi (V.O.) -  I saw a god the other day.  (We see the bridge.  A large fire rages nearby.)  By the river, on a rainy afternoon.  He helped a kitten that was left all alone.  (We see black feathers falling.)  It’s a god that only I can see.  A black-winged angel that came down from the heavens just for me.
(We see Mamimi’s POV as she plays a hand-held video-game.)
Naota (O.C.) -  What are you doing?
Mamimi -  Huh?  (She looks up.  We see Nandaba Naota, looking down at us.  He looks pretty steamed.  Mamimi responds with excitement.)  Hey, Takkun!
(We see the two of them facing each other.  Samejima Mamimi is seated against a wall.  Naota stands in front of her.)
Naota -  Why are you at my school?
(She stands up.)
Mamimi -  (Giggles)  I felt like it!
Naota -  Jeez, aren’t you embarrassed..?
(Naota and Mamimi continue to talk, unaware that Ninamori Eri, Manabe Gaku, and Masamune Masashi are watching them.)
Ninamori -  Who’s that, huh?
Gaku -  It’s his wife.
Masashi -  Yeah, he’s married to an older woman.
Ninamori -  (Skeptical)  Are they, like, dating?
(Meanwhile, Naota and Mamimi continue to talk.  Mamimi notices the white headband Naota is wearing.)
Mamimi -  Ooh!!!
Naota -  What do you want?
(Gaku and Masashi snicker at Mamimi’s silliness.  Ninamori frowns.)
Ninamori -  She doesn’t look very bright.
(Meanwhile, Mamimi is joyfully pestering Naota about his headband.)
Mamimi -  What’s that thing on your head, Chief!?!  It looks cool!
Naota -  Cut it out!
Mamimi -  (Craning her neck to get a better look)  Let me see it!
Naota -  Stop looking at it!  I mean it!
Mamimi -  Huh!?!  Huh!?!  Huh!?!
(Ninamori watches, still scowling.)
Ninamori -  That is so not cool.

(Later that day.)
Haruko (O.C.) -  Okay, stay still!  (A flash.  We see an X-ray image of a human skull.)  Look at this.  It’s empty.  There’s no brain.  Did you lose it somewhere?
Naota -  You’re the one who did this.
(Naota is kneeling in his darkened room.  Haruhara Haruko is sitting at his desk, holding the X-ray picture, wearing the nurse’s outfit she stole in Episode 1.  Other X-ray pictures cover the window.)
Haruko -  Don’t blame me if you go around losing things.  Some kids are just freaks.
Naota -  Look who’s talking:  Ms. Normal.
Haruko -  At least I didn’t sprout a robot out of my head, like some people.  By the way, there’s something new there now.
(There are two new horns protruding from Naota’s head.)
Naota -  It’s weird, not normal, these horns sticking out.  The last one turned into a dumb robot that’s living at my house!  (He points at the blue robot, which is sitting next to him on the floor.  It is dressed in a blue sweater and a fake halo suspended on wire from the back its head.)  Living here!  What’s up with that!?!  And it’s all because I was run over by your bike!
Haruko -  It’s a normal Vespa.  Go see for yourself.
(She starts spinning on the chair.)
Naota -  And you still haven’t taken those clothes back!  People out there are starting to think you’re a real nurse!
(Haruko stops spinning.)
Haruko -  Ah!  (As if talking to us, the audience)  Hey there!  Haruhara Haruko here!  Age:  19!  Splendiferous housekeeper at Takkun’s house!
Naota -  She’s older than that.
Haruko -  But my true identity is this:  (A strobe-light starts flashing, instep with a fast drum-roll.  Haruko quickly changes outfits, picks up her bass, and, like a rock-star, yells out...)  First-class Space Patrol Officer!!!
(The lights in the room come on.)
Naota -  What a lame stage-name.
(She pokes him in the head with her bass.)
Haruko -  Chill out.  We’re not going on “Star Search.”
Naota -  That hurt!  Why’d Miyu-Miyu get on your case yesterday!?!
Haruko -  Oh, because I’m in trouble; lots of trouble!  Because of Takkun, they’re all on my case!
(Naota quickly decides that he doesn’t really want to know what Haruko’s talking about.)
Naota -  (Pointing at the robot)  What is this thing anyway?  How does a robot take X-rays like that?
Haruko -  Because he’s a Medical Mechanica robot, probably.  Didn’t you know that?  They make them there.
(She points out the window at the Medical Mechanica Plant.)
Naota -  Why’d he come out of my head?
Haruko -  Yeah, that’s what I want to know.  (Accusatorially)  What’s your connection with Medical Mechanica?  (She pokes him with her bass once again.)  Huh!?!  Huh!?!  Huh!?!
Naota -  That hurts!  Cut it out!  Hey!  I said stop it!  (Voice-over begins.  We see the X-ray picture once again.)  Exactly where does the truth end and the lies begin?  Samejima Mamimi and Haruhara Haruko:  a lot of lies are flowing around me.  These two new horns that sprang up:  a true story that seems like a lie.
(Opening Title)

(Later, outside Naota’s house.)
Kamon (O.C.) -  Move it!  Move it!  Well, since you don’t have any nifty functions, you can at least make yourself useful around the house.
(Nandaba Kamon is directing the robot to load large boxes into his car.  Naota and Haruko are on a balcony above them.)
Naota -  Hey!  You’re using him outside again!?!
(Kamon ignores him, and continues to direct the robot as it loads the boxes.)
Kamon -  No, no!  This one goes in first!
Naota -  The neighbors have eyes, you know!
Kamon -  You want it all to yourself because you brought it home.  (He looks up at Naota.)  Aren’t we being a little bit selfish!?!
Naota -  It’s weird having a robot in the house!!!
Kamon -  Don’t worry about it.  So there’s a robot in our house.  (In a scholarly manner)  Think of the symbolism involved in having a humanoid robot in a normal household, contrasted by the abnormal advance of science, which is thereby proven to exist.  Consider the significance of a human family, N, and a robot that is a part of it and is accepted into it, and the social structure, M, that makes that possible.  (As Kamon drones, the robot carries a box into the house.  Passersby who glimpse the robot seem to immediately disappear upon seeing it.)  And, everyone is buying the Initial D, Robot Detective K, Nakamori Akina’s Young Girl A, Satsuki Madori’s Passionate Woman B...
(Meanwhile, Haruko has been looking through her binoculars in the opposite direction from Naota and Kamon.  She finally acknowledges Kamon’s ongoing rant.)
Haruko -  (To Naota)  What’s he talking about?
Naota -  (Now bored with Kamon’s speech)  He wrote a whole book on the deep mysteries of Eva.
Haruko -  Eba?
Kamon -  (Finishing)  That is the real, true, actual meaning of the robot.
Naota -  (To Kamon)  That robot was walking around loose yesterday!!!
Haruko -  (Still looking through her binoculars)  There have been a lot of fires around here lately.
Naota -  Yeah, like yesterday.
(She continues to peer into her binoculars.  Meanwhile, Kamon is still talking about the robot as it loads boxes into the car.)
Kamon -  He deserves a little free time to himself.  Right, TV Boy?  (He looks at the robot, but its attention is directed at the sky, which is rapidly filling with dark rain clouds.)  Uh?

(Later that day, it’s raining.  We see Mamimi under the bridge, dipping her bare feet in the water, and playing the same hand-held video-game as before.  A small black cat frolics nearby.)
Takkun -  Meow!  Meow!  Meow!  Meow!  Meow!  (He hears Naota walk up.)  Meow?
(Naota drops a pair of sandals on the ground.  Mamimi turns as they hit with a loud clop.)
Mamimi -  Huh?
Naota -  You’re in high school.  What do you think you’re doing?
Mamimi -  I was playing with Takkun and my shoes floated away.
Naota -  With who?
(She holds up the cat, which continues to meow incessantly.)
Mamimi -  Takkun!
(Naota is puzzled.)
Naota -  That’s his name, too?
Mamimi -  Yeah, Chief!  This Takkun is hungry.  Do you have anything for him?
Naota -  Like what?
Mamimi -  Well, not like chewing gum.
Naota -  You saved him?  A stray cat?
Mamimi -  (Giggles)  I’m like a god, huh?  A protector of the weak.  The god of the black flame.  You know, Lord Cantide, Chief!
(Again, Naota is perplexed.)
Naota -  That’s a game, right?  The one where you burn down the city and everything?
Mamimi -  Yeah, I’m addicted.
Naota -  You like games, huh?
Mamimi -  Hm?  You don’t want to play?
Naota -  I’m too busy.
Mamimi -  (Disappointed)  Yeah, you’re always busy.
Naota -  There’s a bunch of people I need to take care of.  See ya!
(He pops open an umbrella.)

(Elsewhere, Haruko is driving very fast on her Vespa.  As she rides, her scarf flies up and covers her face, causing her to loose her balance and fall off.  A moment passes before Haruko reappears, now chasing after her speeding Vespa on foot.  She finally catches up with it, and lets out a large gasp as she regains control of the scooter.  But it’s too late; Haruko crashes shortly thereafter.  Our view pulls back, revealing that Haruko has just crashed into the Medical Mechanica Plant.  Moments later, Haruko crouches in the lobby of the plant as one of two security guards is studying her Vespa.)
Security Guard #1 -  Lady?  Lady?  What year is this?  I’ve never seen parts like these.  (He goes to look at Haruko, but is distracted by a clear view up her skirt.)  Whoa!
(Haruko crouches as if in a catatonic stupor, saying nothing.)
Security Guard #2 -  You can save your breath.  This girl has no brains at all.  Just take a look at her.  (#1 is looking at her.  Very intently.)  She barges into an off-limits facility and crashes her bike.  It’s been bad enough here lately without this.  It turns out the fire yesterday was arson, and the day before that, a nurse at the hospital was tied up and all her clothes were stolen.
#1 -  (As he stares up Haruko’s skirt.)  There’s a lot of depraved people out there, huh?
(Suddenly, someone slams a small box on #1’s head.  It’s Naota, here to rescue Haruko.)
Naota -  Aren’t you embarrassed to act like that?
#1 -  Who the hell is this kid?  Your brother?
Naota -  (Wanting to quickly dispel that idea)  No!  No relation.  I’m from planet Earth.
#1 -  Then get lost!  This is no place for little kids!  Can’t you see we’re working here!?!
(Haruko suddenly speaks.)
Haruko -  This isn’t a place for people to work.  (She stands up and looks around.)  There isn’t even a door to get in or out.  (She walks over, and picks up the box Naota slammed down on #1’s head.  She pours out the contents of the box, which looks like a small toy robot; she then kneels down, so as to repair her Vespa.)  No doubt, you’re thinking why would a grade-school kid be my guardian, right?
#2 -  Hold on.  You’re telling me this kid is your guardian?
Naota -  Yeah, I have custody.  It’s kind of unusual.
(We watch as the toy robot morphs into a part for Haruko’s Vespa.  This is definitely not a “normal Vespa.”)
Haruko -  (To Naota)  So, you came for me, huh?  (Naota is unsure how to respond.  She smiles at him.)  The rain’s stopped.  I’ll give you a reward.
Naota - Hmm?
Haruko -  It’s even better than C.P.R.
Naota - Hmm!?!

(At the bridge.  Mamimi is playing with Takkun.)
Mamimi -  Oh, he’s not here yet, huh?
Takkun -  (Seeing something, he points.)  Meow?
Mamimi -  Huh?
(Mamimi and Takkun go to investigate.  Using her camera like a telescope, Mamimi sees the blue robot by the river, hunched over and digging through the grass as if it were looking for something.  It is still wearing the halo, but now sports a pair of black wings, as well.)
Mamimi -  (Quietly)  Oh, it’s a god.
(The robot continues on, unaware it’s being watched.  Mamimi follows as it walks along the riverbed, until it reaches the site of a burned-out building.  This place seems to make her uneasy.  She and Takkun watch as the robot climbs to the top of the highest structure, which is covered with roosting blackbirds.  The robot raises its arms, and lets out an initial blast from its jets which scares the birds away.  The robot slowly lifts off from the top of the building, rising higher and higher as golden sunlight pours through the clouds.  The sunlight gleams off the robot’s metallic body, giving him an angelic glow.  Mamimi watches wide-eyed as if in the midst of religious experience.)
Mamimi -  Ooh!!!  It’s a god!  I can see him!  He’s really real!  (Quietly)  That time I was saved, he...

(Elsewhere, Naota and Haruko are riding along the shore on Haruko’s Vespa.)
Haruko -  So, you usually don’t come out to the beach like this, huh?
Naota -  Not in October, it’s too cold.  (He yells as Haruko suddenly speeds up, actually causing him to momentarily fall off the bike before she picks him up again.)  Hey!  That’s dangerous!  Your driving sucks!
Haruko -  I’m a very safe driver.
(Then, perhaps intentionally, she swerves recklessly from side to side.  Naota yells repeatedly as she does this.)
Naota -  I don’t like scary stuff!  And I don’t have a helmet!
Haruko -  Hmm!  You’re scared, even though your brain is missing!
(Naota yells again as Haruko pops a wheelie and speeds off, leaving us flying along the beach at sunset.  The clouds in the sky are bridged by a rainbow.)
Naota (V.O.) -  When you’re on a bike, the ocean is a lot closer than you think.  The autumn salt-wind went right through to the back of my nose, and maybe it was because, like Haruko said, my head was empty.

(Later that night, Mamimi is at Naota’s house, sitting at the back door, drinking a hot drink.  Haruko is inside, playing with Takkun.)
Mamimi -  ...Anyway, I’m glad I followed him.
Naota -  (Looking at Mamimi’s pictures of the robot at the river earlier that day.)  Jeez.  What if someone sees it going around like that?
Haruko -  I saw him at 7-Eleven.
Naota -  (Gasps in disbelief.)
Haruko -  He was reading “Hustler.”
Naota -  When!?!
Mamimi -  It’s so nice.  I wish I could have him at my house.
Naota -  Oh, yeah.  You’re not allowed to have any pets there, are you?
Haruko -  Sameji!  Come on inside; it’s cold.
Mamimi -  I’m okay out here.
Naota -  My grandfather doesn’t like her dating my brother.
Haruko -  That’s why you’re keeping her out of the house?
Naota -  She says she doesn’t care.
(Meanwhile, Takkun is jumping excitedly around Miyu-Miyu.  Miyu-Miyu just wants to be left alone.  Suddenly, the back of the house is awash in light.  It’s the robot, coming down out of the sky.  He has several spotlights which are beaming all over, lighting up the whole neighborhood.)
Mamimi -  (Excitedly) He’s back!!!
Naota -  (Panicked)  Aah!!!  What are you doing!?!?!
Mamimi -  Lord Canti!!!
(Naota looks at her, puzzled.)
Naota -  Canti?
Mamimi -  (Bowing her head as if in prayer)  Halo, god of dark wings, Cantide!
(Naota looks at her despairingly.  Meanwhile, the robot finally touches down in front of Mamimi.)
Haruko -  You are late!
(She grabs a plastic bag from the robot’s hand.)
Naota -  Why are you using him to run errands?
Haruko -  Yuck!  (Holding up the can)  I told you to get  the kind with the pulp!  (She notices he has another bag.)  What’s up with that one?
(The robot walks over to a side door and knocks twice.  Nandaba Shigekuni quickly opens the door.  He glances over the robot’s shoulder.  He frowns when he sees Mamimi, who isn’t happy to see him, either.)
Shigekuni -  (To the robot)  Let’s see it!!!  (He grabs the bag and pulls out a magazine, looks at it for a few seconds, then chucks it at the robot’s head.)  I said to get the one with the Anna-Nicole centerfold!  Can’t you get anything right!?!?!
(He slams the door.)
Naota -  (Dismayed)  Grandpa too?
Mamimi -  (Looking at the magazine)  It’s “Hustler.”
Haruko -  That robot’s useless.
Naota -  You’re the one who broke it, Haruko.
Mamimi -  Haru-san, you shouldn’t do this!  Don’t you know that Canti’s a god!?!
Haruko -  What’s she on about?
Naota -  Oh, it’s just some video-game.  In high school, I guess they’ve got a lot of free time.
Mamimi -  (Dejected)  It’s not just a game.  The black wings prove it’s him!
(She bows her head in reverence like before.  Meanwhile, Haruko is looking through the magazine.)
Naota -  (To the robot, angrily)  Don’t go out anymore, or I’ll have to chain you down!
Haruko -  (Seeing a picture of the robot flying over Mabase in the magazine)  Oh!
(Naota looks at this in dismay.  Suddenly, Kamon calls down from a second floor window.)
Kamon -  Hey, TV Boy!  Did you record “The Thursday Night Special?”

(The next day, by the river.  The robot, Canti, is busily combing the ground.  He picks up a small piece of red plastic.  He turns as he hears Naota, Ninamori, Gaku, and Masashi nearby.)
Masashi (O.C.) -  Over here!
Ninamori (O.C.) -  This used to be a boathouse?  This thing?
Gaku (O.C.) -  It kinda smells.
(They look at the charred remains of a burned-out building from behind yellow caution tape.)
Ninamori -  It says “do not enter.”
Gaku -  Then don’t follow us, Ninamori.
Masashi -  Don’t worry.  The police have already been here.  (He pulls up the caution tape and walks under it.)
Gaku -  Oh!
Masashi -  I heard it was arson.
Ninamori -  Again?
Gaku -  Arson!  Arson!
(Meanwhile, Canti hides in the long grass nearby.)
Ninamori -  Probably just some stressed-out housewife, huh?  Just too many dirty dishes.
Gaku -  It’s not that.  UFOs zapped it.  “Focus Magazine” had pictures and all kinds of stuff.
Masashi -  It was foreign agents.
Ninamori -  If it was anything like that, they’d burn something big, not a boathouse.
Gaku -  That’s true.  They’d hit, like, a school or something.
(Canti watches as they continue to poke around.  Later, Naota & Co. are walking on the bridge.)
Masashi -  There was a school that burned down, wasn’t there?
Gaku -  Yeah, but that was a long time ago, and we were all little.
Ninamori -  Someone burned it down?
Naota -  You can still see part of it:  it’s all ashes.
(Ninamori looks out over the river, she sees a shoe floating along in the water.  It is the kind of shoe Mamimi usually wears.  Gaku looks to see what Ninamori is looking at.)
Gaku -  Hey!  What’s that!  (We see their prespective as they look upriver.  We see Mamimi, standing in knee-deep water, wringing water out of her skirt.)  What’s she doing?
Masashi -  I don’t know.  I saw some girls bullying her yesterday.
(Naota listens as he looks at Mamimi.)
Gaku -  What uniform is that?
Masashi -  Shinden High School?
Gaku -  Hm?  She’s in high school?
Ninamori -  At that age, it’s really pathetic.
(Naota continues to look at Mamimi.  He feels bad for her.  Behind him, steam begins to pour out from the Medical Mechanica Plant.  Mamimi turns to look at the plant, but, to Naota, it appears that she’s looking right at him.  For a moment, they each seem to gaze at one another.)

(Later that night, Naota is walking along the bridge; this time a few feet behind Mamimi, who walks barefoot, dragging her book-bag behind her on the ground.  Naota opens his mouth to say something, but stops himself.  He stops walking.  Mamimi pulls her lighter out of her pocket.  When she does so, her hand-held video-game falls out and drops on the ground.  Naota notices, but Mamimi does not.  He watches as she lights a cigarette, and continues to walk.  As he watches the cigarette start to burn, Naota seems to come to some kind of revelation about Mamimi.)
Naota -  (Quietly)  Oh...  (Meanwhile, Mamimi continues to walk, seemingly unaware that Naota has stopped.  She soon disappears into the night.   We are left looking at Mamimi’s game, which is still on the ground where she dropped it.  Naota’s voice-over begins.)  “Fire Starter.”  It’s a hand-held video-game.  (As Noata’s voice-over continues, other voices speak randomly in  the background.  We see various images of fire.)  No one knows how Endsville, the city of devils, was created, but as soon as it appeared, it started to grow, and slowly eat up the world.
Mamimi -  Takkun, can bring me some sandals?  My shoes floated away.
Naota -  You’re in high school, what do you think you’re doing?
Naota (V.O.) -  You are an agent of Cantide, the god of the black flame,
Man -  Hey kid, have you seen anything strange around here lately?
Naota (V.O.) -  ...and you must stop Endsville from destroying the world.
Naota -  I don’t know.
Masashi -  It’s arson.
Naota (V.O.) -  Your only weapon is flame:  matches, lighters, and fire-bombs.
Man -  There some bad people around here.  Are you sure you don’t know who they might be?
Naota -  I haven’t seen anyone.
Naota (V.O.) -  Get the weapons, outsmart the firefighters, hide from the police,
Ninamori -  I told you.  It’s stress.
Masashi - I saw some girls bullying her yesterday.
Mamimi -  You don’t want to play?
Naota (V.O.) -  ...torch the city, and purge its demons.
Security Guard #2 -  It turns out that fire yesterday was arson.
Naota (V.O.) -  But you must be careful; you cannot burn everything.
Gaku -  Arson!  Arson!
Mamimi -  Yeah, I’m addicted.
Ninamori -  She doesn’t look very bright.
Naota -  No, you’re wrong!
Naota (V.O.) -  If the entire city burns down, there will be no place to live.
Man -  She did it, didn’t she?
Naota -  No!
Man -  We know it was her.
Naota (V.O.) -  Thus, the battle is hopeless:  there is no final victory.
Naota -  Where’d she go?  Wait!  It’s my fault:  I didn’t know she was..!
Haruko -  It’s empty.  There’s no brain.  Did you lose it somewhere?
Naota (V.O.) -  The only thing you can do is burn and burn and burn.
Miyu-Miyu -  Which part of this is really the truth?  Meow.
Naota (V.O.) -  Your highest goal is to receive the personal blessing of Cantide, the god of the black flame.
Naota - Is that Miyu-Miyu?
Miyu-Miyu -  We were talking about you.  Meow.

(Back at Noata’s house, Haruko is, once again, talking to unseen persons, using Miyu-Miyu as a conduit.)
Haruko -  No, I haven’t been able to get in touch with him.  Well, I recruited one of the empty robots, but he’s useless anyway.  You know the gears are turning, but I don’t know what...  (Suddenly, Miyu-Miyu’s body flies at her, hitting her again and again, as if the person on the other side were using him like a boxing glove.  We hear sirens in the distance.  Haruko opens the window.)  Huh?
(From a distance, we see a huge fire burning.  Close up, we see fire engines gathered around it.)
Fire Fighter -  Please!  Stand back!
(Elsewhere, Naota sees the same fire.)
Naota -  The riverbed...  (Realizing he’s lost track of Mamimi.)  Oh!  Where’d she go!?!  (He runs off to find her.  Voice-over begins, accompanied by images from Naota’s memories.)  Now I remember.  That fire at the elementary school, six years ago...
(We see the old elementary school on fire.  Naota, about six years old, watches the blaze.)
Mamimi -  (as Naota remembers)  “He’s the one who saved me!”
Noata (V.O.) -  My brother?
(Little Naota looks up at Tasuku, who stands in front of him, watching the fire.)
Mamimi -  (Indicating Tasuku)  “The protector of the weak: Lord Canti!”
Naota (V.O.) -  There were rumors that it was arson, but they never found out for sure.  (We see Tasuku patting a younger Mamimi on the head, trying to console her.  The three of them stand close together as the school continue to burn.)  That’s the day Mamimi and my brother met.

(A short time later, we see Mamimi, at the sight of the old elementary school.  She is holding some sort of vigil; there is a circle of burning cigarettes around her, there is a boom-box playing music nearby, she has to two fireplace lighters strapped to her head, and she seems to be praying.)
Mamimi -  (Softly)  Furi, Kuri, Furi, Kuri, Furi, Kuri...  (She stops when she realizes Naota is watching her.)  Why’d you come down here?  It’s kinda late.
Naota -  You dropped something.
(He holds out the “Fire Starter” video-game which she had dropped earlier.)
Mamimi -  I don’t need it anymore.  You can have it.
Naota -  This is where you and my brother went to school, right?
(She reaches over and turns off the boom-box.  Takkun, who had been sitting by the boom-box, runs off.  In the remains of the school building, Canti stands up, and lights his face/screen to illuminate another piece of red plastic.)
Mamimi -  (Sullenly)  I hated this place.
(Takkun jumps onto Canti’s shoulder.  Canti turns to look at Takkun.)
Naota -  (Somewhat surprised to see Canti)  He’s here?
(Canti realizes he’s been spotted, and quickly tries to hide behind a piece of debris.)
Mamimi -  ...And so, I wished that it would go away.  But it’s useless.  Even if it burns down, the wreckage and the ash are still there.  (Noticing smoke from the other fire)  Look, Endsville is burning.
(Naota listens, saying nothing.  Mamimi turns to Canti, and seems to float on her tiptoes over to him.)
Mamimi -  Now, Lord Canti, bless me with your kiss, your absolution.
(Naota watches, wide-eyed.)
Naota -  Oh..!
Mamimi -  (She raises her lips to the robot’s face.)  Kiss me!
Naota -  Oh..!
(Elsewhere, Haruko is speeding along on her Vespa.  Haruko watches as the Medical Mechanica Plant begins to roar.  Meanwhile, Naota’s horns are growing.)
Naota -   Aaagh!  Ow!  What’s this?  It’s bigger than before!!!
(Canti and Mamimi watch as it continues to grow.)
Mamimi -  Oh no!  There’s some weird fat thing coming out of Takkun!
Naota -  Aaagh!
(He continues to scream as a huge robot emerges.  But, it’s so big, he loses his balance, and he and the robot come crashing down to earth.)
Mamimi -  Takkun!
(The new robot stands.  It’s as big as a house.  Mamimi cowers close to Canti.  This robot is apparently the owner of the arm which Canti fought in Episode 1, since its left arm has been replaced by a large taser-like device (grafted on with tape and a large spike).  The robot notices that Naota is still stuck to its right hand, and summarily flings him off into the sky.  A short distance away, Haruko is just arriving on her Vespa.  Naota lands in her path, gets caught up in the engine, eventually getting shot out the tailpipe of her Vespa.  Haruko stops.)
Haruko -  How dare you hurt Takkun!?!  Huh?
(She turns to see the big robot deliver a punch which sends Canti flying.  The force of the blow sends Takkun, the cat, flying up in the air.  Mamimi watches Takkun fly up.  Meanwhile, Canti tumbles along the ground.  Haruko jumps over Canti as she leaps into the air, ready to strike the other robot with her guitar.  But, before she can attack, the robot launches its right arm at her.  Haruko just barely avoids it.  Elsewhere, Canti finally comes to a stop when he smashes into an old wall.  Canti looks up just in time to see the other robot’s hand come crashing down on him.  A short distance away, Haruko falls to the ground, but quickly recovers and runs back into battle.  Meanwhile, Mamimi is still waiting for Takkun to fall back down.)
Mamimi -  Takkun!!!  (She catches the kitten.  But, just as she does, the large cable attached to the robot’s arm comes crashing down around her.  Mamimi and Takkun are sent sprawling.)  Aaagh!!!
(Meanwhile, the robot and Haruko fight a vicious battle.  The robot whips the large cable at Haruko.  Haruko avoids it, and lands a direct hit on the robot with her guitar.)
Haruko -  Hah!!!
(Elsewhere, Canti and the robot’s arm fight.  The arm hits Canti with its thumb, so forcibly that Canti is sent flying again.  The arm then leaps into the air and, using its middle finger, slams Canti into the ground.  A short distance away, Naota is just reecovering from his encounter with Haruko’s Vespa.  He sees Haruko fighting the robot.  She jumps all around, trying to avoid getting hit.  She finally leaps into the air, preparing to strike again with her guitar.  But before she can do so, the robot blasts her at point-blank range with its taser-arm.  Haruko screams before falling to the ground, unconscious.)
Naota -  Haruko?  (He pauses)  Mamimi!?!
(The cable crashing down around Mamimi again.  He quickly gets up to go help her.  Elsewhere, the robot’s arm is still punching Canti around.  It lands another hit that sends Canti flying.  Naota sees that Canti is about to come crashing down on top of Mamimi.)
Naota -  No!!!  (Then, in an act of extraordinary heroism, Naota grabs Mamimi and tries to push her out of the way.)  Look out!!!!!  (But it’s not enough.  Canti impacts a few feet away.  As the smoke clears, we see that they are not dead:  a section of fence kept them from getting crushed.  But the battle isn’t over.  The robot launches its arm, which grabs ahold of Canti.  The robot then pulls itself in and gets ready to strike the final blow.  Naota huddles over Mamimi, thinking this might be the end.  In the face of imminent death, Naota calls out to his brother.)  Tasuku!!!  (As soon as Naota says this, a strange symbol appears on Canti’s face/screen, and he is somehow able to deliver a hit which sends the other robot staggering back.  Canti then picks Naota up off of Mamimi.)  W-Whoa!!!
Mamimi -  Takkun!?!
(Elsewhere, Haruko is just recovering from getting blasted by the robot’s taser.  She sees that a giant pair of jaws has emerged from Canti’s midsection.  Meanwhile, Naota resists Canti’s hold on him.)
Naota -  Aaagh!  What are you doing!?!  Let me go!!!
(Then, the giant jaws slam shut and swallow Naota whole.  Then, they retract into Canti’s midsection as quickly as they had emerged.  Mamimi and Haruko both watch helplessly.)
Haruko -  Takkun is..?
Mamimi -  He ate him!!!
(Meanwhile, in another dimension, Naota screams as a giant light bulb is screwed into the back of his head and lights up.  Back in the real world...)
Mamimi -  Stupid!!!  You’re not Lord Canti at all!  Why’d you have to go and eat Takkun!?!?!  Huh?
(Mamimi watches as Canti’s body turns blood red.  Elsewhere, Haruko realizes her bracelet is rattling.)
Haruko - Huh?
(Just then, the other robot recovers and takes a swing at Canti.  This time, however, Canti easily blocks the robot’s strike.  He then elbows its midsection and swings around to deliver a flying kick that sends the larger robot tumbling along the ground.  Mamimi watches in disbelief.  The red Canti then gently guides her to move back.  As she watches, he transforms bit by bit into something resembling a large cannon.  Haruko is watching, too.)
Haruko -  Transformation?
(Meanwhile, Canti zeroes in on the other robot, which is righting itself.  It moves to launch its arm at Canti, but Canti fires his projectile before it can do so.  The glowing yellow projectile easily rips through the robot’s arm, and takes a huge chunk out of the robot itself.  It also obliterates the old school building.  Then, the projectile comes back around and slides back down the barrel of Canti’s cannon.  Meanwhile, Haruko finishes the job.  With a rebel yell, she buries her guitar into the other robot’s head, which begins to spew giant flames.)
Haruko -  Huh?  (Realizing she’s at ground-zero for an explosion)  Uh, oh..!
(From a distance, we see a humungous explosion as the robot is destroyed.  Haruko and Canti stand nearby as the fire continues to burn.  Canti is holding Mamimi and Takkun under one arm, and Haruko’s Vespa under the other.  He sets Mamimi down.  She starts to cry.  Canti gently pats her head to comfort her.  She looks up at him.  The moment passes, then Canti turns blue and expels Naota from his system.  Naota falls on the ground.  Mamimi is happy to see him.)
Mamimi -  Takkun!!!  (He stands up, wearily.  Mamimi retracts.)  Takkun, you’re all sticky.
(Naota sees that the explosion has obliterated any trace of the old school building.)
Naota -  The ashes are all blown away.
Mamimi -  (She looks at Naota and holds her nose)  And something smells.
Haruko -  Yeah.  (Hearing approaching sirens.)  Argh! Shit!  (A moment later, she’s on her Vespa, ready to go.)  Let’s get out of here!  (She looks up as it begins to rain.  She sees that Naota and Mamimi haven’t moved.  Canti hovers nearby.)  Hey, guys!  Why are you just standing there!?!
(Naota and Mamimi stare at one another.)
Naota (V.O.) -  At the time, I didn’t notice the sirens that were coming toward us.  I don’t know where the lies end  and the truth begins.  I asked myself what I could do for Mamimi.  I decided to stay by her side... forever.
(Ending credits.)
Second episode script, based on the English dub. I had to edit this somewhat because it was originally more than 31680 characters long. :O_o:

I love the Fire Starter Game Speech. This is the only place I could find the whole thing.
